Description:

2007 GMC Sierra SLE 1500 Short Bed Pickup

GMC traces its roots back to 1902 when it was known as the "Rapid Motor Vehicle Company" eventually to be controlled by the General Motors Company. In 1920, GMC began sharing platforms with Chevrolet and along with nameplates and grilles, the two companies also differed in engine selection. These days, cosmetic features inside and out still vary, but engines cross over between the two.

For consignment, a pampered 2007 GMC Sierra SLE notably not used as a work truck as the consignor tells us. Just a great-looking, clean truck that belies the mileage on the odometer, (115,997), and one poised to make the next owner very happy. Honestly, we'd have no problem pulling into a cruise night or Cars and Coffee in this truck...it's that nice! But would make a great daily driver too.

Exterior
Bathed in Sport Red Metallic, here's a shining example of what a 17-year-old truck can look like when you take care of it. The chrome trim on the bumper and plastic chrome grille looks fantastic and the black trim including window surround, side mirrors, door guards and bumper cover are in darn near showroom condition. The color-matched Leer hard shell tonneau cover provides an attractive lid to the bed. 20-inch chrome wheels play off the dark red paint and the 275/55/20 Goodyear Wranglers check the boxes for a great fit that give the truck a tall profile. Fog lights are here as part of the SLE trim. Tinted windows, smoked tail lights, and rain guards were added to complete the clean look. Rectangle chrome exhaust tips tuck under the rear bumper and a hefty tow hitch occupies the center. In a sea of Sierras, Silverado's and F100's out on the streets today, this truck would stand out. We noticed some small bubbling at the wheel arches and a scrape on the front painted bumper.
I
nterior
Standard fare here with Dark Pewter, (charcoal), molded plastic door panels with padded inserts. A clean look that's easy to clean! A gray, velour-like split bench looks inviting and comfortable. When there's no third person, the back of the middle seat folds down to create a large armrest, complete with storage tray, hinging open to reveal a storage bin. Everything looks factory stock; the steering wheel, dash, complete interior...and it's insanely clean. An AM/FM/CD radio is accounted for. WeatherTech mats protect the short pile gray carpet and they barely looked used. The headliner, with an overhead console is, as expected...clean. There are grab handles and hanger hooks up there as well. Lift the tonneau to reveal a bedrug bed liner...yeah, no mulch is going in this truck.

Drivetrain
The 4.8 liter Vortec V8 was rated at 295 horsepower and 305 foot pounds of torque...no slouch and plenty of power which is routed through a 4-speed automatic transmission...the reliable and widely used 4L60E. All those horses head to the back wheels where they are met with a 10-bolt rear and 3.23 gears. Power disc brakes engage first and power drums in the rear assist in slowing and stopping the truck.

Undercarriage
Naturally, a driven vehicle, no matter how spotless on top, (and this one is!), is going to show some wear underneath. That said, there's nothing of concern under here that we could see. Surface rust on the frame, driveshaft, spare wheel and various metal parts, but for a 100k+ mile truck, pretty darn clean! No major rust and no leaks anywhere. If we had to flag anything, it would be advanced surface rust on the tow hitch and rear interior bumper, both of which show some pitting but structurally okay. We note leaf springs in the back and independent front suspension in front.

Drivability
No surprises here either. The fuel-injected engine started right up, and the stock-configured exhaust has a mellow rumble that you won't wake your neighbors...or the birds, for that matter. The truck rolls on those 20's nicely and has nice turn-in and acceleration.
Overall, a pleasant experience and a welcome place to sit on a long drive on the highway or a short stint down a gravel road.
I think the consignor and I would get along...this is exactly how I like my daily drivers...clean and mostly original and looking as good as the day I picked it up while having some personal touches. This is a very nice truck you can make your own or leave as is and enjoy for years to come. This generation of Sierras and Silverados have a good reputation and if you're looking for a truck for daily use or otherwise, this one might be worth a gander.
