The Ultimate Vintage Pocket Rocket: 1970 Gemini SST 50 Mini Bike Looking for a rare, head-turning machine that stands out from the sea of Honda Z50s? The Gemini SST 50 is a legendary piece of early '70s moto history some call it the Ferrari of mini bikes. This retro mini combines true vintage style with surprisingly snappy performance. Manufactured by Shin San Tong (SST) and imported for only a few short years, these rare mini bikes have become highly prized by collectors and vintage enthusiasts alike. Why the Gemini SST 50 Rules: Licensed Yamaha Engine: Powered by a 50cc rotary-valve, 2-stroke engine built under license from Yamaha. It sounds incredible and hits a brisk top speed of around 35 mph. 4-Speed Gearbox: Unlike standard single-speed or 3-speed automatic mini bikes of the era, the Gemini features a real 4-speed manual transmission with a hand clutch for authentic motorcycle operation. Pure Retro Aesthetic: High-mount chrome exhaust pipe, classic teardrop fuel tank, full front and rear suspension, and unmatched trail-riding posture. Rarity Factor: Production abruptly ended around 1972 due to licensing legalities with Yamaha, making surviving, complete examples exceptionally hard to find today. Perfect as a nostalgic pit bike, a standout addition to a vintage motorcycle collection, or an iconic conversation starter for your garage.
