The GTA was introduced in 1987 as the top performance trim of the Trans Am lineup, and it became one of the most sought after Third Generation Firebirds ever built. This special edition example has a rare color, a never driven in winter history, and a long list of new parts that make it ready to enjoy right away.
Finished in rare Gunmetal Grey Metallic, this Trans Am has a sleek, serious look that suits its performance personality. A new Hawks fiberglass spoiler with fresh paint adds a custom touch to the rear, and new tires give it a planted stance. Inside the rear hatch, the popping rear glass is paired with new hatch struts so it opens the way it should. Because this car has never seen a winter, the body and finish have been spared the wear that road salt and harsh weather inflict on so many cars of this age.
Power comes from the 5.7L 350ci V8 with Tuned Port Injection, the engine specially offered with the GTA package. It is paired with a 4 speed automatic transmission, and the GTA performance suspension helps it handle with more confidence than a standard Trans Am. A thorough round of recent maintenance has kept the mechanical side fresh, including a new fuel tank pump, new fuel injectors, a new fuel filter, a new distributor, a new alternator, and a new water pump. A new lower radiator hose, new stabilizer link and bushing, and a new blower motor relay round out the work, and a new hood insulation mat adds a clean finishing detail under the hood.
Inside, grey cloth seating keeps the cabin clean and cohesive with the Gunmetal exterior. The cabin is well equipped for the era, with the digital dash option, power windows, mirrors, and locks, an automatic tilt rear view mirror, a roof map holder, and a CD changer tucked into the rear compartment for modern listening. New custom order Firebird floor mats add a fresh, branded touch to a very complete interior.
This GTA is a great chance to own a rare color, special edition Trans Am that has never been driven in winter and has been freshened with an impressive list of new parts, ready to turn heads at car shows and on weekend cruises.
