1965 Ford Mustang GT Convertible " A-Code 289/225 HP V8, Cruise-O-Matic, Power Top
Classic Cars of Sarasota is proud to present this 1965 Ford Mustang GT Convertible, a beautifully equipped example of Ford's groundbreaking pony car. Finished in Silver Blue with a White soft top, bright chrome, and a Blue and White interior, this Mustang combines classic first-generation styling with the desirable A-Code 289-cubic-inch, 225-horsepower V8 and smooth Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission.
The A-Code 289/225 HP V8 was Ford's mid-tier performance V8 for the 1965 Mustang, positioned above the 200-cubic-inch six-cylinder and 289 two-barrel while sitting below the legendary K-Code 289. With its four-barrel carburetor, the A-Code delivered responsive mid-range performance while retaining the drivability that helped establish the Mustang as America's iconic pony car.
This example is particularly well equipped, featuring a power convertible top, full-length center console, Interior Decor Group, power steering, wood steering wheel, dual exhaust, backup lights, and BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The combination of V8 power and open-air styling makes the early Mustang convertible especially appealing.
The car is also accompanied by a copy of the original window sticker and sales order, providing valuable documentation of its original configuration. Its VIN decodes as a 1965 Mustang convertible assembled at Ford's Dearborn, Michigan plant with the A-Code 289 V8.
The 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible helped define an entirely new category of American automobile. With the desirable A-Code 289/225 HP V8, automatic transmission, power top, console, Interior Decor Group, and documented original configuration, this Mustang offers an excellent combination of classic style, V8 performance, and open-air enjoyment.
