This 1976 Triumph TR6 is a Federal-spec, carbureted example from the model's final year of production, finished in green with a tan leather interior. The TR6 carried the TR4/TR5 platform forward under a squared-off, Kamm-tail body developed with German coachbuilder Karmann, and 1976 closed out that shape before Triumph moved to the very different wedge-bodied TR7. The odometer shows 58,000 miles, exempt from mileage disclosure as is standard for a vehicle of this age.
Power comes from Triumph's 2.5-liter overhead-valve inline six, fed through the twin Zenith-Stromberg carburetors that were standard equipment on US-spec CF cars, producing a claimed 104 hp, known for being simpler to keep sorted than the mechanical injection system. Power reaches the road through the factory 4-speed manual transmission and a rear end geared at 3.70:1, a ratio that keeps the six comfortable at highway speeds without hunting for gears. The car starts right up and drives the way a well-sorted TR6 should, with plenty of torque and none of the hesitation a neglected 50-year-old British car can develop.
Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums, riding on 15-inch wheels. Inside, the tan interior has been fitted with new upholstery on both the seats and the manual convertible top, giving the cabin a clean, fresh look while the factory dash layout, wood-veneer trim, and full instrument cluster remain intact.
The TR6 was Triumph's best-selling TR model at the time production ended in 1976, a record later surpassed by the TR7, with total production commonly cited around 94,600 cars. The majority of those, like this one, were carbureted Federal-spec cars built for the US market rather than the fuel-injected cars sold at home. Between the inline six, four-wheel independent suspension, and a shape that still draws a crowd decades after Karmann drew it, the TR6 remains one of the more accessible ways into classic British sports car ownership.
