Every now and then you run into one of these old Dodges and scratch your head thinking, you just don’t see many of these anymore. Well, this one you definitely can’t miss. She’s packing a big block, period correct 383 4-barrel, a 4-speed manual transmission, and the kind of factory appearance that takes you right back to the 1960s. Finished in Red PP1, or as we like to call it, “Arrest Me Red,” this Dodge looks fast sitting still.
Under the hood sits Mopar’s legendary 383 cubic inch big block V8, factory rated at 330 horsepower and an impressive 425 lb-ft of torque. The 383 was known for its strong low-end torque, durability, and excellent street performance, and many Mopar enthusiasts consider it one of Chrysler’s best all-around big blocks. Backed by a 4-speed manual transmission, this combination delivers the kind of driving experience that made these cars so much fun when they were new. The engine compartment is exceptionally clean and presents with the kind of original-style appearance collectors appreciate. The only upgrade was power brakes and front disc brakes. Original drum fronts are in the trunk for the die-hard Mopar folks!
The interior shows very little wear and presents remarkably well. Finished in factory Red, the cabin remains completely unmodified and looks like it could have been delivered yesterday. Some of the color combinations offered in the 1960s were certainly interesting, but this one got it right. The Red interior works beautifully with the exterior and gives this Dodge a very purposeful appearance.
The body, frame, and paint are exceptional, with a high-end restoration that shows tremendous attention to fit and finish. The Fire Engine Red paint is deep and beautiful, and the overall presentation is simply outstanding. The classic dog dish hubcaps complete the authentic period look perfectly.
Underneath, this Dodge is just as solid as it is on top. The original-style factory undercoating remains in place, with no apparent rust and an exceptionally clean chassis. It has the honest, well-preserved look we like to call “driver patina,” meaning it is beautiful enough to show but doesn’t make you afraid to drive it.
If you’re looking for a rare, seldom-seen 1960s Dodge with the right big block, 4-speed, great colors, and exceptional presentation, you need to take a serious look at this one. These cars simply don’t come around very often, and this one is ready to be enjoyed. It won’t last long.
