Back in the 50's fins were king making the 1957 Chevrolet the quintessential collector car from the decade. Everyone has their favorite tri-five but there is no denying the 1957 typically tops the list for classic car fans. A unique feature of these cars is there were various trim levels including Bel Air, 210, and 150 as well as body styles including the hardtop, post car, convertible, 4 door and wagon. To give even more options, buyers had a large choice of performance levels to choose from. This clean '57 is a unique classic due to some of the factory selections as this car was ordered with the popular hardtop body style and is a true "VC" V8 Bel Air. What is even more unique is that this car was specifically ordered to be a factory hot rod as it features the dual quad 283 with a 4 speed. The car has belonged to the same adult, Texas owner, for the past 30 years. It is always garage kept and has been well maintained. The bright Red paint has a nice finish and is fitted with all of its factory chrome and trim. It still wears its original Bel Air hood spears but center hood trim and rear deck have been shaved clean. Due to that, the trunk is now accessed via a switch inside the car. Sticking with the hot rod styling it rides on 15 inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires (P235/70R15).
Turning those tires is the 283ci V8 motor with dual quad carburetors. This isn't the numbers matching motor but is the correct motor for the car. These iconic high performance motors feature dual Carter carburetors and the signature bat wing air cleaner. This one has also been upgraded with a dual point distributor and it has 4 wheel power disc brakes with a dual diaphragm chrome brake booster. Backing the motor is a 4 speed manual transmission that makes the car super fun to drive. It sounds great and runs down the road very well. It has 3:70 gears so scoots around town and down the highway smoothly.
The interior of the car is Red and Black which is done in the correct Hardtop layout with cloud pattern inserts and Silver welt. The upholstery is all in great condition and it has the original split front bench. It has Black carpet with the long arm Hurst shifter on the floor. The dash is very nicely painted and features its stock trim, knobs, switches and gauges. On the center of the dash is a vintage stereo that has a stock appearance but is a more modern AM/FM system connected to a 10 disc CD changer. Another nice upgrade is the nicely painted reduced diameter steering wheel with chrome horn button. The trunk has a Black mat in place and has plenty of space for all your car show gear.
This is one cool classic that was factory ordered with a lot of neat features making it a unique hot rod Bel Air icon!
