1980 Cadillac Coupe DeVille For Sale Last Year of the Big Block * Mechanically Sorted * Great Running Classic Luxury Cruiser This 1980 Cadillac Coupe DeVille is a solid, honest classic that has had a substantial amount of recent mechanical work completed and now runs absolutely fabulous. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who appreciates full-size American luxury and wants a mechanically strong car that simply needs some cosmetic finishing touches. This 1980 model is especially desirable because it represents the final year of Cadillac's traditional big-block era before the company transitioned into smaller and less desirable powerplants in the years that followed. The car starts easily, settles into a smooth idle, and drives with the quiet, effortless feel that made these Cadillacs famous. Recent mechanical work includes brand-new whitewall tires rated for 50,000 miles, a complete rear brake service, new rear brake rotors, new wheel cylinders, new brake pads, new brake lines and related hardware, new calipers where needed, new rear shocks, and a brand-new rear axle. The braking system has received extensive attention, making this Cadillac much more confidence-inspiring to drive. Combined with the new axle and suspension work, the car feels solid and composed on the road. The carburetor was professionally tuned by an experienced old-school mechanic. Even after sitting for a week, simply pump the gas twice and the engine fires right up. The fast cold idle settles down within approximately 30 seconds, and once warmed up, the car runs beautifully. A battery cut-off switch has also been installed to prevent battery drain during extended storage. The original OEM heat and defrost control was located and installed, and both the heat and defroster are now fully functional. The heater core and blower motor have also been confirmed to be in good working order. The air conditioning system was converted to R134a in 2005. The system is complete but is not currently blowing cold and will likely need minor servicing or a refrigerant recharge. The passenger-side window is currently off-track. It still operates, but it should not be lowered until the regulator and track are properly adjusted. Cosmetically, the car does still need some bodywork and finishing. According to the original owner's family, the Cadillac has never been involved in an accident, and the body lines and undercarriage support that history. The foundation is solid, making this a great candidate for someone who wants to finish the cosmetics to their own taste rather than pay a premium for someone else's restoration. The body presents as an honest driver with age-related imperfections, but the mechanical condition is the real strength of this car. If you're looking for a classic Cadillac that starts easily, runs fabulous, drives well, and has already had much of the important mechanical work completed, this 1980 Coupe DeVille is a great opportunity. It is a comfortable, impressive full-size cruiser with plenty of character and a solid foundation, ready to be enjoyed now while the next owner decides how far they want to take the cosmetic restoration.
