We had the pleasure of selling this car from our Car Museum in 2014 (889 miles ago). It went to a big Jaguar Collection on prestigious Jupiter Island, here in Florida, right after our achieving 'Best of Show' at the Winter Park Concours. Available again, it is a stunning example of a seldom seen model ! Finished in Opalescent Gun Metal Grey with Light Gray Vat Dyed Connolly Leather Hydes with matching Carpets. All surrounded by beautiful Circassian Walnut Trim on the Dash, Door Panels, Window Trim and Picnic Tables. It is Powered by the venerable 3.8 liter 6 cyl. 220 h.p. Motor w/ Twin SU Carbs and 3-Speed Automatic Transmission. Seat Belts were added in the front for Safety, while the Telescopic Steering Wheel remains in Exc. Condition. Matching Grey Disc wheels carry Hubcaps that sport Jaguar nameplates and beautiful, heavy Chrome Glamour Rings. This model carried two Tool Kits (one in each front door) and we found out how expensive these little beauties could be, by spending a small fortune making sure both trays were 'complete'...then 'guarding them' at Car Shows :) . She's running old-style Nylon Bias-ply 'Wide Whitewall' Tires with a full Spare w/ Cover in the trunk.. still in pristine condition complete w/ all tools. '65 Yrs. Young' it survived the popular “Age of Smoking” despite 3 Cigar Lighters and 4 Ashtrays. The Walnut Dash carries 2 Glove Box's (Owners Manual/Gloves), with 2 Vanity Mirrors in the Rear Passenger compartment plus, numerous hidden compartments. Wouldn't be complete without the Seatback Picnic Tables and Poupon Mustard display.
The mileage is still under 90,900 (an amazing 1,398 mi. per year for the life of the car) yet, the car still shows exceptionally well, as it did when judged in 2013. This particular car is one the last built (43rd from end of production) of only 4,021 LHD versions, and it was Fully Optioned with a Sunroof, Leather Bucket Seats and Automatic Transmission. It still carries the Optional Lucas Halogen “J” Headlights and SRL 596 “Nipple” Driving lamps. The original RadioMobile AM Tube Radio is in position w/ orig. Antennae, but does not operate. The Rear Taillights are the 'French Version' in Red & Amber which we added for 'colour'. You can quickly tell the Love each owner gave it...the providence shows it was the typical 'California car'. You seldom see one anywhere close to this condition. It is respected not only for it's Timeless Beauty but, the fact.... this is the Last of the smaller body designs vs. it's later Big Brother, aka: 'The Beast ' Mark 10'. $78,500 USD. The Story: The Mark IX was introduced at the Earls Court London Motor Show in 1958. It immediately racked up a score of sales from Rolls-Royce and Bentley as it was equally prestigious yet, smaller and it offered just as many features for way less money ($6,500 vs $15,655), not to mention maintenance costs. It quickly became know as the “Queen Mother’s Favorite Car”, perhaps because it helped her relate more to her Subjects then the huge, flashy Rolls-Royce. This Jaguar featured a gorgeous, beautiful body, with sweeping Fender Skirts, plus the much needed 'new' 4-Wheel Servo-Assist Dunlop Disc Brakes, Power Steering, better Heating System, and the brand new, bored-out, 3.8 XKE Motor w/ 2-SU Carburetors. All part of the package offered even BEFORE the XKE was introduced. Yet, it was one of the First Jaguar Motors Cars to benefit from the huge success of the Jaguar Sport cars in such races as the '24 Hrs.of Lemans' and other great Endurance Races. This racing pedigree, and the fact, this is the Last of Year this Model, automatically places this beautiful MK IX as one of the Most Desirable & Collectible 'Big Cats'.
