It's long and stylish and doesn't look quite like anything else from its era, or any other era for that matter. Sitting low to the ground and rolling on a set of 22" wire wheels that are sure to turn plenty of heads, this 1973 Buick Riviera Boat Tail is a guaranteed conversation piece. Take a lap around it and you'll see quite an array of aesthetic features that combine to create an attention-grabbing classic, starting of course, with that namesake curvature on of the rear window as it merges with the deck lid, framing the vinyl roof just in front of it to perfection. From all indications, this standout Buick has logged only about 83,000 miles over the course of its lifetime, so its factory-correct brown paint has likely been with it from the start.
Climb inside, and one of the first things you're likely to notice is how the Riviera's generous proportions pay a major dividend in the area of interior space. There's lots of shoulder and leg room on hand inside these doors, with a pair of broad bucket seats up front and a bench seat in back that are dressed in factory correct vinyl. The contrasting black carpeting is well fitted and free of any major discoloration, and the dash area is another high point in this vintage Buick, with faux wood paneling that still retains its original pigmentation, a crack-free dash pad on top and a set of factory-issue gauges that broadcast their readings through clear lenses. The original 8-track stereo remains on board, but when a more modern audio experience is called for, there's a JVC AM/FM stereo mounted in the glove box that has both Bluetooth and Sirius XM connectivity.
The 455-cubic-inch V8 holding court in the engine compartment is very capable of propelling this sizable ride with plenty of enthusiasm. It's equipped with a Rochester four-barrel carburetor and pairs with a three-speed automatic TH400 transmission to form a drivetrain that appears to be in fine shape. An added pair of Flowmaster mufflers yields a satisfyingly deep note with a tap on the gas pedal, while power steering and power brakes that position discs up front make this stylish classic a pleasure to drive.
