1977 Yamaha RD400

As seen is a fully restored 1977 Yamaha RD400D. Ready for daily driving or just to show. Garage kept for most of its life and has a clean California title. The engine did have a full rebuild back in 2014 however the milage at that time was not recorded. The only items that were not touched are the paint, harness, frame, and chrome. Below is a list of everything that was done.
- Gearbox drained and inspected for excessive wear with a borescope.
- Gear oil was replaced with a Lucas full synthetic.
- Cylinder heads removed and inspected cylinders. No damage was found.
- New rings installed and gapped to correct size.
- Several parts where sent to be professionally powder-coated. The frame was not powder-coated in order to keep the original Yamaha VIN sticker.
- The carbs and oil pump were removed, cleaned, and rebuilt with new seals and gaskets.
- All hoses were replaced including oil lines and fuel lines.
- Brand new Bridgestone Battle Axe tires installed both front and rear.
- Battery replaced.
- New main drive chain replaced.
- Braking systems were all flushed and rebuilt with new seals.
Items that are not original to the bike.
- Original handlebars are replaced with cafe racer style handlebars.
- Seat has an aftermarket seat cover installed.
- Intake was upgraded to a K&N pod filter.
- Brand new reproduction mirrors.
- HVC Cycle kickstand relocation kit so expansion chambers can be fitted.
Damage (As seen in photos)
- Scratches/paint wear on both sides of the engine covers.
- A ding and some small scratches on the front fender.
- Blemish on the top of the right exhaust.
- Paint damage on the right of the gas tank.
- Rust pitting on the rear fender and some around the versus parts of the frame.
- Scuff on the top of the rear tail light.
- The factory center stand is removed.
