2014 Royal Enfield Continental
VIN: ME3FSV290EK601409
300 Original Miles
The Continental 550GT, produced from 2014 thru 2018, is Royal Enfield's take on the single cylinder cafe racers of the late 50's and 60's. It closely resembles the original 250cc Continental produced by Royal Enfield from 1963 thru 1967, with its clip on bars, solo seat, clubman tail piece, and Red GT paint; but with the addition of such modern features as electronic ignition, fuel injection, electric as well as kick start, Brembo disc brakes at both ends, custom frame, and a 5 speed gearbox. It is a modern update on another cult classic, Honda's hallowed GB500 Tourist Trophy, and with its trick Harris Performance frame, it shares the same characteristic agility in ironing out twisty back roads with 50's style flair harnessed to modern technology.
The first year example you see here was purchased by the original owner from the Royal Enfield dealer in Helena. It handles very much like the GB500 in this collection, save that it was a bit down on power. That situation was neatly remedied with the addition of a Dyno-jet Power Commander electronic module along with a low restriction muffler and air box – all of which resulted in a crisper throttle response and a 20% increase in horsepower. Bar end mirrors were also added to the clip-on handlebars for improved vision. (All original parts come with the sale, and all that is needed to revert the bike back to total stock is to remove the Power Commander module and reinstall the original muffler, air box, and mirrors.)
This is a virtually new twelve year old bike. It received its initial service and the break in oil was changed out at 65 miles, and it has been carefully maintained and ridden less than 120 miles since.
