1966 Honda 305 Dream
VIN: CA77E-1023147
This motorcycle has undergone a restoration.
Honda developed the 305cc Dream specifically for the American market starting in 1961. Unlike the company's more sport oriented Super Hawk, the Dream was designed to be a more all purpose and low maintenance touring bike. Its 305cc overhead cam engine was fed by a single carburetor, and the 4 speed transmission included heel as well as toe shifting. The front suspension was leading link for better ride quality, it had electric start, and styling that featured a square headlight and flared fender bottoms had a distinctly 60's look. It was a comfortable cruiser for a small bike, with a broader power band than the hot rod Super Hawk that still allowed for a top speed of 85mph, and it was easily capable of all day rides without undue discomfort or fear of mechanical mishap.
The example you see here was purchased by the current owner in 2005, in all original condition and with 24,300 miles on it, from a Las Vegas motorcycle officer who used it to commute to the “office” to pick up his work bike. It then spent the next 12 years in storage until 2017, when it was pulled out and refurbished by Honda specialist Greg Goss, after which it was treated to a new set of whitewall tires, a fresh coat of black paint, and a complete tune up and general service. (An upgraded Ultra Comfort seat with additional padding had also been installed, but a rebuilt and complete stock factory seat also comes with the sale.) The Dream has been ridden sparingly in the 9 years since, and is in excellent condition for a 60 year old motorcycle. The odometer currently shows 24,423 miles.
