2006 Kawasaki Ninja ZX14
VIN: JKBZXNA176A002344
Though it was Honda that pioneered mass production of what became the Universal Japanese Motorcycle with the introduction of its four cylinder five speed CB750 in 1969, it was Kawasaki that gained a reputation for breakthrough developments in UJM performance, starting with its 900cc Z1 in 1972. Another such breakthrough bike was the ZX14, introduced in 2006. This machine was equipped with a dual overhead cam, 4 valves per cylinder, fuel injected, water cooled and ram air inducted motor that made 197 horsepower which, coupled with a six speed transmission, pushed the bike through the quarter mile in the mid-9's and provided it with a chip limited 186mph top speed.
The 2006 example you see here was purchased new by the current owner. It is all original with the exception of installation of (1) a Power Commander to give it a 5% boost to around 208 horsepower; and (2) a cheater on the rev limiter to allow it a 10% increase in top speed to around 206mph. Notwithstanding these changes this bike has never been abused, and it remains one of the most powerful production motorcycles in the industry today, while at the same time a sophisticated “gentleman's express” designed not just for high-speed performance but for comfortable long-distance riding as well. It has been carefully maintained and sparingly ridden over the past 20 years, and the odometer currently shows only 4,225 miles. This is a flawless original bike, and you will not find a better one.
