1957 Ford Thunderbird – Rare Sun Gold, Fully Restored
This exceptional 1957 Ford Thunderbird is a frame-off restored, highly optioned example
finished in the rare Code G non-metallic Sun Gold—one of the most striking and desirable
colors ever offered on a Thunderbird. Sun Gold was available only for a very short period
near the end of the 1957 production run, making surviving examples extremely scarce and highly sought after by collectors.
This Thunderbird is equipped with a correct D-code 312 cubic inch V8 with factory four-
barrel carburetor, mated to a Fordomatic automatic transmission.
The car includes a long list of desirable factory options: power steering, power brakes,
power windows, Town and Country signal-seeking radio, heater/defroster, both the original factory hardtop and a new black canvas convertible top, and a full tonneau cover.
Meticulously restored, this Thunderbird features straight body panels with excellent gaps,
show-quality paint, and refinished trim and chrome. The underside is exceptionally
clean—detailed down to the hardware and showing just as well as the topside. Suspension
components were rebuilt, including leaf springs with correct fabric dampers to eliminate
squeaks. The frame and underbody were powder coated for longevity and appearance.
Inside, the correct "tuxedo" interior was restored to a high standard, including seats, carpet, door panels, dash, gauges, and heater controls. Gauges and electronics are fully functional.
The engine bay is highly detailed with all period-correct components, accessories, and
hoses, making it appear better than factory-new. This Thunderbird runs and drives as new. This 1957 Thunderbird represents an outstanding example of one of Ford’s most iconic
designs.
