1948 Willys Jeep CJ-2A
VIN: CJ2A193040
134cid 4 Cylinder Engine
3 Speed Manual Transmission
4 Wheel Drive
Having served the needs of the US military throughout World War II, Willys-Overland began to consider the development of a civilian jeep that it could market beyond the scope of the militarized MB. This led to the first mass-production of the CJ-2A in 1945. Willys Overland first marketed the CJ-2A with the intention of gaining ground in farming, ranching, and other industrial and agricultural applications. It was quickly evident the American driver had an appetite for the Jeep for purely personal purposes!
The Willys presented at auction has been under current ownership for 12+ years. This Jeep CJ-2A was acquired from Military Trucks and Equipment in Weiser, Idaho after it had been subjected to a body-off restoration and repainted in the original Normandy Blue color. As reported by the seller:
It has wither a new or rebuilt motor, transmission, battery, regulator, generator, starter, clutch, vinyl seat covers, brakes, master cylinder, wheel cylinders and brake lines. The tires are newer with few miles. It has a rebuilt 6 volt electrical system which is in great working condition. This Jeep starts and runs great! Everything works. It has been stored inside a heated garage and has only 110 miles on the rebuilt engine.
Body panels appear as they would have looked in the early 50's as do the floorboards, hood and fenders as noted in the pictures. The seats look sharp in maroon contrast to the Normandy Blue body. The utilitarian nature of this Jeep, while minimal in creature comforts, has endured time and remain popular among collectors and drivers alike.
