1967 MG MIDGET ROADSTER

1967 Modified MG Midget This little MG Midget was purchased nearly 25 years ago by a friend of the current owner's father. Soon after buying the car, which was literally in boxes, he fell ill and was not able to continue work on the project. The body had been stripped and painted but nothing else had happened. The car was shifted up into the rafters of the garage where she sat for some 15 years. 10 years ago the current owner got a ring from his dad's buddy asking if he'd be interested in buying her, getting her running so he could see her finished before his health made it impossible. So, he purchased her, took a couple of weeks to get the body and everything else out of the garage and back to his own garage where he dug in. The long story short is that the engine was found to be in need a rebuild so he went in deep and built the little 1275 series 4 cylinder into a mini monster. Shaved head, high compression pistons, Weber side draft, header, electronic ignition/distributor, high output generator, stainless exhaust that runs straight out to a Thrush glass pack and dual outlet Ansi style tip. The car has 39,000 miles on the odometer but only a couple thousand since the rebuild, about 8 years ago. - and yes, Dad's buddy got to see her rip down the street. Other bits that were replaced during the rebuild: all new brakes, bushings, bearings, wiring harness, master brake and clutch cylinders, tube shock replaced lever shock kits (F&R), new springs front and rear, Heim joint panhard rod in back, all hoses were replaced (engine, brake, etc), new A arms, rear axle internals rebuilt with new axle shafts... Pretty much all the mechanicals were replaced or rebuilt. The interior was in overall very good condition and remains that way today with some wear and tear items such as the door cards, carpeting showing their age. A new Pioneer stereo system was installed and 2 12v power outlets behind the seats along with a set of 6x9 Kenwood speakers. The interior and boot are lined with Kilmat insulation/sound deadener. There is a brand new, UK sourced vinyl top and a new wooden steering wheel. The body is in very good condition with no rust/rot in the floors, rails, sills, etc. There is one tiny hole in the right front lowest front section of the fender (under the bumper). The chrome is all in very good condition with little or no pitting. There a couple of very small chips in the paint, but the lipstick red paint shines very nicely and looks great combined with the aluminum "snow flake" style wheels, wrapped in Nexen 175/60R13 radials. She starts right up, with no hesitation and idles along like a small race car. The tach is currently inoperable but the owner is tracing down that issue, oil pressure is awesome, sitting over 50 at idle and up to 75+ when driving. She sounds great and pulls out probably 50% more HP/Torque than stock. Jump on the gas and she accelerates immediately. She does tend to pull a bit to the right on hard acceleration and I'm not sure if that has to do with the panhard rod or steering or neither, maybe just the torque. The owner mentioned that she may sometimes pop out of second, however, in my time driving her, she did not. She shifts, stops and steers well. There are several boxes of spare parts too. In summary - This is a rip-snorting Midget in very good condition that could use some buttoning up here and there to be just one step better than she currently sits. She is totally turn key and ready to go and enjoy, be it out on some country roads or at the local slalom/autoX course. The asking price is $11,000 Any questions, for many more photos and videos, to schedule a time to see her in person or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.
