1951 CHEVROLET BEL AIR

This unique 1951 Chevy Belair convertible is all original with only 71,000 miles on the odometer. The car was fully restored in 2004. The restoration included: removing all the body panels from the chassis and sandblasting to the bare metal. The only rust found on the car was behind the four gravel shields. The old metal was cut out out and replaced with new quarter patch panels welded to the fender moldings and then faired with lead. The floor braces were replaced and the car was repainted to a Burgundy Red. The car interior was completely redone with colour matching new (full hide) leather on the seats, new interior upholstery and convertible (Hartz cloth) top from Hampton Coach. The original rubber floor mats were replaced with carpet. The engine, transmission, driveline and suspension are all original. The brakes were overhauled in 2004 with a new master cylinder, wheel cylinders and brake shoes. The engine radiator and interior heater were recored. All chrome and stainless steel trim are in good condition with the exception of the chrome work on the front quarter windows and dashboard, which are slightly pitted. Items needing attention include: the radio (not working) and the interior heater (heater valve control leaking) I am the fifth owner of this car, which I have owned for 42 years. The car originally came from Rhode Island into Ontario, Canada in 1972. There were just over 21,000 Chevy convertibles manufactured in 1951. It is estimated that there are around one hundred 1951 convertibles still on the road. This is a rare opportunity to purchase such an original car.
