2005 Carpenter 235" Dragster
If you've always dreamed about bracket drag racing, perhaps even have built a small block Chevy to get ready, but didn't have time to finish a car, this 2005 dragster built by Dom Carpenter might just be your ticket to the track or sand drags!
For consignment, a 235" Carpenter dragster that's set up for a SBC and coming to you with lots of extras including eight sets of quick change gears, two sets of springs, extra CO2 bottles, and lots more!
Exterior
The car sits high on 15-inch wheels with paddle treaded sand drag tires and its flat paneled nose is painted in alternating maroon, black, and gold. A wedge shaped structure holds up the high wing, all in black, and a roll cage rises over the single seat. There's an empty space just waiting for the right engine and a fire suppression system just ahead of it. Some blasts to win the class in Newtown, Virginia may have contributed to some rough paint and patina on the body, including the front of the nose and cab sides, but the main stretches of mild steel are in good shape.
Interior
A tan vinyl covered racing seat with harnesses is your chariot's throne, and our consignor states it can hold taller drivers. A butterfly steering wheel presents to the pilot just ahead of three large gauges and a series of toggle switches and a Computech monitor, along with a fuel shut off. There's a shift light, billet cut shifter, and fire suppression lever, all within reach.
Drivetrain
On board is an air shifted Powerglide 2-speed automatic with a TCI 3500 stall converter and trans brake. In the front is a narrowed Dana 30 axle and out back, a Franklin quick change rear that will house the aforementioned choice of gears that come with the car. Disc brakes are found front and rear and suspension consists of a hardtail front end and a 4 link with coil springs in back.
You know you've been thinking about getting back in the game. Well, an opportunity just presented itself and it's time to take the Chevy V8 off the engine stand and give it a home. Then, get back in your racing suit, put your helmet on, and get ready to have the time of your life!
