1987 JAGUAR XJ6

This is a 2 owner car, owned since 1992 by the current owner. His good friend bought the car brand new in 1987 and unfortunately, ran into some financial hardships during a divorce, so he offered to buy it from his friend. Initially feeling as though he couldn't afford to drive the car regularly, he parked it in his garage and would start it regularly and sometimes drive it around the block, he even changed the oil in it every couple of years. After about 10 years or so of this, he finally took her out of the garage, got her registered and insured and started enjoying her. He wasn't much of a car guy but loved the driving experience of this late 80's luxury saloon. It was a regular at his golf club and he drove it as a fair weather daily driver (only on sunny days and from about late April to mid November). Over the last 25 years or so of driving he's put about 100,000 of the 109K miles on her. Not being a car guy meant having someone else do the work and he's kept up with the maintenance on this car very well. It gets an oil change every 3000 miles and if he's close to that point when getting put up for the winter, the oil gets changed out. The car has the 4.2L inline 6 cylinder, known as a stalwart, long lasting engine. A solid performer, it puts out just over 200HP and 230 lb ft of torque, taking the saloon from 0-60 in just over 9 seconds, according to auto tests of the day. The Arctic Blue -JFE paint, over Isis Blue - JEF leather sets things in the right mood. Of course, a Jaguar of the day would come with power steering, 4 wheel power disc brakes, AC (was converted to R134 but then the compressor gave up), stereo, power windows, power sun roof and power height control on the driver seat (other adjustments are manual - lean back/slide back and lumbar support. The driving experience in this luxury saloon is what one imagines a Jaguar would give - Silky smooth - power application, ride, comfort... Lithe, like the big Cat she is. The burlwood is in overall good condition, unfortunately, a sunroof left open while on a far part of the links, meant water intrusion that affected the "ski slope" in front of the center console and the headliner, which now sags a bit. The paint is in awesome condition, however, with 109,000 miles there are just a couple of flaws when one looks close, small rock chips on the headlight bezels, and lower sills, a couple of small bubbles near both windscreens and a couple of little dings. The under carriage is equally affected by time, overall very solid condition, but there is a small area of rust in between the exhaust tips. The Michelin Defender 215/70/R15 tires have about 3000 miles on them and they're wrapped around the stock aluminum "rallye wheel" which are in mint condition. If you're looking for an entry level way into the British/collector car world, this is the way to go. Inexpensive to get into, inexpensive to keep, well maintained, awesome driving experience in a color combo that tends to draw people in... You will get comments and approached when you bring her out. Cost of ownership for this feline is $9000 Any questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a viewing or to make an offer, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for the interest.
