1954 Chevrolet Corvette
1954 was the first full production year after Corvette's ""soft launch"" in 1953. GM always used Corvette to push to envelope for manufacturing, such as first production use of a fiberglass body. Only 3,640 were made in 1954, only 100 were finished in Sportsman Red like this example. This early example, one of the first 400 made, shows only 29,609 miles on the odometer and was lovingly restored, frame-off, to factory specifications by the previous owner. Virtually every nut and bolt has been turned on this Corvette. The Sportsman Red interior, like new. The beige soft top was restored along with the rest of the vehicle, but is torn and will require replacement. The in-line ""Blue Flame"" 6-cylinder engine and two-speed power glide transmission have completely rebuilt to OEM specs. This is an older restoration, well kept in an indoor environment. 1 of only 100 Corvettes finished in Sportsman Red over Red, 2.75% of total production Factory ""Blue Flame"" engine with chrome ""Bullet"" air cleaners and Power Glide Transmission Original Fiberglass Body Older restoration showing some patina on the chrome, still presents well.
