This 1969 Honda CB750 is one of the first 7,414 ever built of this iconic motorcycle when sandcasting technique was used to manufacture the engine cases. This would be found in engine numbers of 1007414 and lower—this example has a reported engine number of 1006545. After that, the cases were diecast and the oil filter case was designed with cooling fins. The Honda CB750 went on to become one of the most popular large-displacement, multicylinder motorcycles of all time. Introduced in 1969, the CB750, with its transversely mounted 736cc air-cooled, four-stroke, 4-cylinder single-overhead cam engine was a sensational surprise to the motorcycle marketplace. To build it, Honda brought its extensive technical expertise gained in building world championship-winning multicylinder Grand Prix racing motorcycles to bear.
